Trash: restore a deleted preview, client, or ad
When you delete a client dashboard, a preview, a campaign, an ad group, or an ad, you choose Send to Trash or Delete permanently. Send to Trash keeps it for 30 days, so you can restore it. Delete permanently removes it at once and cannot be undone.
I deleted something by mistake
Deleted by mistake? A preview, a client dashboard, a campaign, an ad group or an ad goes to the trash, and you can restore it for 30 days. The steps for each are below.
How long do things stay in trash?
30 days. The delete box says Recoverable for 30 days. Each item in the trash shows how many days it has left, such as Expires in 12 days or 3 days left. After that it is deleted for good.
Restore a deleted preview
- Open the client dashboard the preview was in.
- Click Trash in the left menu, under that client. On a small screen, the Trash button is on the Previews list.
- Find the preview and click Restore. Tick several and click Restore at the bottom to restore them together. Use Filter by name to find one.
You see one message for the whole restore, Preview restored for one or, for example, 3 previews restored for several. Click Undo on that message to send every preview you just restored back to Trash.
The preview goes back to the Previews list. When you click Send to Trash, the preview shows in Trash straight away. If the list cannot be loaded, the page says Trash did not load with Try again, instead of showing an empty trash, so reload before you assume it is gone. Delete forever, the bin icon on a row, removes one for good after you confirm. Empty trash removes every preview in this trash after you confirm.
Restore a deleted client dashboard
In the left menu, Trash sits under Dashboards. It shows a count when something is in it, and it stays there after you delete your last client, so you can always get back to it. Clicking it opens the Dashboard page with Trash Bin open.
You can also click Trash at the top of the Dashboard page. It shows a count, such as Trash (2). If every client is in trash, the page says All dashboards are in Trash. Click Open Trash.
In Trash Bin, click Restore on the client. The bin icon removes one for good with no second question. Empty Trash Now removes everything after you click OK.
When you delete a client, the delete box can also say Deleting this client frees your client slot so you can create another. Restoring it from trash needs an open slot.
I typed /dashboard/trash and nothing opened
That address opens your dashboards list with the client Trash Bin open. Restore a client there, or open a client and click Trash to restore a preview.
Restore a deleted campaign, ad group, or ad
In the editor, click Trash at the bottom of the left sidebar. It shows a count, such as Trash (3). It lists the campaigns, ad groups, and ads deleted from this preview, each with the campaign and ad group it came from, such as Untitled Campaign 1 / Untitled Adgroup 1 / Ad 2. Click Restore to put one back. An ad group or ad shows here only while the campaign and ad group above it are not in trash.
The editor will not delete the last ad in an ad group, and says Cannot delete the last ad. It will not permanently delete the last campaign in a preview either, and says Cannot delete the last campaign.
Why did my ad come back after I sent it to Trash?
If moving an ad to Trash cannot be saved, the ad stays where it was, still selected, and you see one message that says why. Nothing is lost. On a sample, the message is Build your own ad in a new dashboard. Samples stay as samples. See The sample ad.
Why can't I restore or empty the trash?
The workspace is view-only, for example after a failed payment. The preview Trash says This workspace is read-only. Restore and permanent delete are paused. Your trashed items are kept. Fix the payment on the Billing page, then restore. A member whose role cannot edit cannot restore either.
Does trash count toward my Free limits?
No. On the Free tier, anything in trash is left out of your limits. That covers the client dashboard, its previews, its client share links, and the campaigns, ad groups, and ads inside it. So after you trash a client, you can create a new client, make a new preview, and share it.
While a preview, group or client dashboard is in Trash, its client link says This preview isn't available. Ask the person who shared it for a new link. It does not tell your client the workspace needs to upgrade. Restore it and the same link works again.
Why does restore ask me to upgrade?
Restoring brings the item back into your Free limits. If there is no room, an upgrade box opens instead, and the item stays in trash.
- A client dashboard, when you already have your one Free client: Client dashboards are full.
- A preview, when your 3 Free previews are in use: Your free previews are full, with Delete an old preview instead.
- A client whose share link would come back next to another live client link: Ready for your next client?
- A campaign, ad group, or ad past the Free number for that spot: Ready to build the full ad?
Delete or trash something else to make room, then restore again, or upgrade to Studio. Studio is $149 a month.
Deleting the whole workspace
Trash is for things inside a workspace. Closing the whole workspace is different, and it does not go to trash. There is no trash icon on the workspace menu. Only the owner can delete the workspace, with Delete account at the bottom of Billing in Settings. The subscription is canceled first.
