Multi-channel previews: write the copy once for Google, Meta, LinkedIn, and YouTube

How-to guidesLast verified:

Multi-Channel builds several previews at once from one set of copy. You pick the formats, type the headlines and descriptions once, and change the copy for one channel when that channel needs different words. Each format becomes its own preview in the same client dashboard, and you can group them behind one link. Multi-Channel is part of the Studio plan.

How do I start a multi-channel preview?

  1. On a dashboard, click New Preview.
  2. Under Where do you want to advertise?, pick the wide Multi-Channel card, One preview, every platform at once. Click Continue with Multi-Channel.
  3. Name your preview. This name becomes the base name for every preview in the set. Click Create preview.
  4. Select Ad Formats opens. The setup has three steps, and the footer shows Step 1 of 3. On the first two steps, the footer has Back and Next.

In Quick build, pick Multi-Channel, then Start from scratch, to open the same setup.

Draft with AI and the two imports are greyed out for Multi-Channel, because it starts from scratch. Once the previews exist, open each one and use Suggest copy.

Which formats can I pick?

Select Ad Formats lists eight formats by channel:

  • Google Ads: Responsive Search Ad, Responsive Display Ad, Performance Max, and Demand Gen.
  • YouTube: YouTube Ad.
  • Facebook / Instagram: Single Image/Video Ad and Story / Reel Ad.
  • LinkedIn: Single Image/Video Ad.

Tick formats one at a time, click Select all on a channel, or click Select All Formats at the top. The count shows your picks, such as 3 of 8 selected, and a line under the list names the previews that will be created. Next stays greyed out until you pick at least one format.

Carousels, Programmatic, ChatGPT, X, Reddit, and Microsoft Ads are not in Multi-Channel. Start those from New Preview on their own channel.

What do I fill in on Enter Ad Content?

Enter Ad Content says Fill in content grouped by channel, or skip to fill in the editor later. Every field is optional, so you can click Next and write the copy in the editor afterwards.

  • Shared Info: Business Name and Final URL. Business Name reads Profile Name when you picked only Meta and LinkedIn formats. Pick a name from your asset library, or type one under Or type a custom business name, up to 25 characters.
  • Media, when you picked anything besides a Responsive Search Ad: Logo / Profile Image and Images, each with Select from Asset Library, and Videos, with Add YouTube Video.
  • Ad Content: Headlines, Long Headlines, Descriptions, and Primary Texts, depending on your formats. Small tags beside each field name show which formats use it, such as RSA, PMAX, Meta, or LI. A count such as 3/15 shows the lines you have and the most any of your formats takes. Click Add headline, or the matching button, for another line.
  • Display Paths, marked Google only. Two paths, up to 15 characters each.
  • Call to Action, marked Meta / LinkedIn. Pick No CTA, Shop Now, Learn More, Sign Up, Contact Us, Download, Get Offer, Book Now, Apply Now, Subscribe, or Get Quote.

Does a line fit every channel?

Each line counts its characters against the longest limit among your formats, and the count turns red when the line is over it. Under the line, a dot for each format shows whether the line fits there. The dot is green when it fits and red when it is too long, labelled with the channel and its limit, such as Google 30ch or Meta 40ch. A headline of 35 characters fits a Meta ad but not a Google search ad, so you see one green dot and one red dot.

How do I change the copy for one channel without touching the rest?

Use Per-Channel Overrides. It appears under Ad Content when your formats span two or more channels, with a row for each of Google Ads, Facebook / Instagram, and LinkedIn that you picked.

  1. Click a row, such as Customize Google Ads content. It opens with your shared copy already in it, and says Overrides unified content for this channel.
  2. Edit, add, or remove lines. Only that channel's previews get these lines. Every other channel keeps the shared copy.
  3. A field you leave alone in the override keeps following the shared copy.
  4. Click the row again to close it. Closing it drops that channel's changes, and the channel goes back to the shared copy.

The counters inside an override only show the formats on that channel. YouTube always uses the shared copy.

After the previews are made, each one is its own preview. Editing one in the editor does not change the others.

How do I name the previews and group them?

On Name Your Previews:

  • Base Name is required, up to 100 characters. Each preview will be named: Base Name - Format Name, for example Summer Campaign - Responsive Search Ad. The list under The following previews will be created: shows every name.
  • With two or more formats, Group these previews is ticked for you, with the line Share all formats with a single link. Group Name starts as the base name. Untick it if you only want separate previews.
  • Click the create button, such as Create 3 Previews. The step shows Creating 3 previews... while they are made.

What happens after I click Create?

All Done! says how many previews were created successfully. Each one has Open in Editor.

If you grouped them, Group Share Link shows the link with Copy, and a line that says reviewers can toggle between every format in the group from that single link. Open Group Editor opens the group, with a tab for each format. Approval works on one preview's link, not on a group link. See Share a preview with your client.

Create Another Set starts the setup again for the same dashboard. Close ends it.

Which plan includes Multi-Channel?

Multi-Channel is part of the Studio plan. If your plan does not include it, the Multi-Channel card shows a lock, and clicking it says Multi-Channel is available with Studio.

To turn one existing preview into other formats instead, use Create for other channels on its row. See Your client and preview lists.

Meta, LinkedIn, and YouTube previews stay previews. They do not download as files those platforms import.
