Product tip emails: why you get them and how to stop them

Questions and answersLast verified:

Why am I getting emails with tips about my preview? On the Free tier, PPC Ad Editor sometimes sends a short product tip email about the next step with an ad you started, for example sharing your preview with your client, letting your client leave a comment, or exporting your ad when it is ready. You can stop them at any time with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email.

What are these emails about?

Each tip is about something you have already started in the app. The tips sent today are:

  • Share your preview with your client, when your first ad is ready.
  • Your preview link is ready to share, when you made a share link and have not sent it.
  • Let your client leave a comment, when your link is set to Viewer. It asks you to choose Commentor under Permission level.
  • Your first ad is still waiting, when you created an account and have not built an ad yet. Its Build my first ad button opens the first-ad setup, and we draft the first ad with you.

A tip can also end with a short card, such as Export your ad when it's ready.

Every tip is under 90 words. Some end with up to two short cards under More you can do.

Reminder email: Your first ad is still waiting. What does Build my first ad do?

That reminder email means your account has no ad of its own yet. The Build my first ad button in the email opens the first-ad setup. Click it, or open the app and go to the first-ad setup. Pick a channel, add your business name and website, and the editor drafts the ad for you. See First-ad screen. If you already built an ad, it may have been before the tip went out, and you can ignore it.

Too many emails from you? How do I stop product tip emails?

Getting too many emails from PPC Ad Editor? Click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any tip email. That stops product tips for your address, and they do not start again. The unsubscribe covers product tips only.

Tip emails also carry a one-click unsubscribe, so many mail apps show their own Unsubscribe button beside the sender's name. Click it and the tips stop, with no sign-in. If that link opens a page in your browser, it asks Unsubscribe from product tips? Click Unsubscribe, and the page says You're unsubscribed.

The link was cut short or changed on its way to you. Use the unsubscribe link in your most recent tip email. If the page says Something went wrong, open the link again in a minute.

How often do they come?

Rarely. After two tips that you did not act on, the tips pause until you do something in the app again. If tips ever start bouncing or someone reports one as spam, all tips stop until a person on our team has checked what went wrong.

Do paying customers get them?

No. Tips go to Free tier accounts. Anyone on a paid plan, and enterprise and contract accounts, do not get them.

Why does a teammate get tips and I don't?

Not every Free account gets tips. Some accounts are set aside and get none, so we can see whether the tips really help. Nothing is wrong with your account, and every part of the app works the same.

Are these the same as the bell in the app?

No. The bell shows activity on your previews inside the app and never sends email. Comment emails are separate too. See Notifications.
