The new year brings a lot of new opportunities to improve your Pay Per Click (PPC) game. We took a look at a couple of the digital marketing conferences this year in North America, and here are three we think you can’t miss this year.
What: SMX West
When: February 19-20
Where: San Jose, CA, Convention Center
Why:
The SMX West conference in San Jose, CA, is one not-to-miss conference. Programmed by Search Engine Land editors, the meeting is February 19-20, 2020, and is pushing their white-hat-only tactics as a way to boost traffic, leads, and profits. However, we like SMX west for its comprehensive SEO and SEM training, a field that is always changing.
Per their website, there are over 85 “tactic-rich” sessions. Starting on Wednesday, the keynote addresses digital commerce, and its effects on search and performance marketing, followed by two SEM/PPC focused sessions on top-of-funnel campaigns and how to structure your search and shopping campaigns. There is also an emphasis on optimization for PPC professionals that can help make your job more comfortable and reporting tactics to help you show your results.
Another programming feature we like is the SEM/PPC Q & A clinic offered and promoted as “PowerPoint-free.” In this engaging session, you can volunteer your site for an audit and assessment that you can use to overcome some of your challenges.
Early Bird Rates expire on 1/18/2020. So, if you think you want to attend, we recommend you register now.

What: Social Media Marketing World:
When: March 1-3, 2020
Where: San Diego, CA
Why:
Social Media Marketing World is in San Diego, CA, in March. We like the programming and the speakers, but we love the “convince the boss” suggestions on the site. Perhaps what we like best is the comprehensive approach the organizers provide to help you get the nod to attend. It starts with argument positions, gives you a script to use, and provides an email template for you to edit and send.
How about that?
Programming-wise, Social Media Marketing World provides some excellent content for the investment. The content is listed by social media platform and offers comprehensive programming to enhance your skills in managing campaigns on each of them. From Instagram to Facebook, LinkedIn to YouTube, and more, we think you can pick up some excellent tips and tactics.
We also like the workshops scheduled for this year. A couple that caught our eye was “How to Convert More Site Traffic Into Customers With Split Testing,” and “Artificial Intelligence and How it Will Transform Your Marketing,” both look like great additions to any digital marketer’s knowledge base.
The sale for tickets ended on January 8, 2020, but keep looking at this one. There is enough time that they might run another promotion on the tickets.

What: The Midwest Digital Marketing Conference
When: April 8-10, 2020
Where: St. Louis, MO
Why:
This show promotes itself as the largest digital marketing conference in the Midwest, the Midwest Digital Marketing Conference (MDMC20) is gearing up for another show this spring.
This show kicks off with some valuable workshops the day before with a morning and an afternoon session available. We also appreciate the SEO workshop called “Your Customers Have Questions. Be the Answer.” Also, in the afternoon session, we like the Google Ads Workshop (naturally) called “Leveraging the Greatest Marketing Tool in Existence.” However, there are a lot of different subjects available for all kinds of exploration should you be interested in various topics, ranging from Facebook Ads to Content Marketing to using LinkedIn for marketing and sales.
While the keynote isn’t up yet, most of the rest of the schedule is set for this show. The one session we think is a can’t miss is “Playbook for Marketing in the New Age of Privacy.”
You are pretty lucky. Since this year is a leap year, you have a whole extra day to qualify for the early bird discount. However, the entire show is a relative bargain, so be sure to check out the sessions and see if it makes sense for you to go to this one.
