Add or remove the accounts you watch
The Accounts screen at /adrecap/accounts lists the accounts Ad Recap watches and how healthy each connection is.
Add Google Ads or Microsoft Ads accounts
- Open Accounts in the Ad Recap menu.
- Click Connect account at the top right, or a Google Ads or Microsoft Ads tile under Add a platform. Before your first account, the tiles sit under Start with.
- In the account picker, search by name or ID and tick each account to add. Accounts you already watch show Monitoring and cannot be ticked.
- Click the Add button, for example Add 3 accounts.
A message starts, for example, with 3 accounts added and goes on to say it is loading the last 28 days of changes. While Ad Recap reads an account for the first time, its row shows Loading, Loading last 28 days… and Reading change history. That usually takes under a minute, then the row turns Connected. The Ad Recap plan covers one account, and each extra account is $19 a month.
On the free plan, the picker opens with a banner that says The free plan includes 1 ad account. Upgrade to watch more. You can tick one account. Once you watch one, the picker does not let you tick another. Click Upgrade in the banner to watch more.
If some accounts could not be added, the picker stays open, marks each one that failed with the reason, and the rest are added. If a tile says Sign in with Google, or Sign in with Microsoft or Google, there is no saved login for that platform yet. See Connect Google Ads or Microsoft Ads.
Add a manager account and its child accounts
In the Ad Recap account picker, a Google Ads manager account (MCC) shows as a group headed by its name and Manager account, with its child accounts listed under it. Accounts outside a manager are listed under Other accounts. Click Select all to tick every account in the group you do not watch yet, or tick only the ones you need. Child accounts show their names from Google Ads. An account with no name shows as Account followed by its ID, in the picker and on the Accounts screen.
What each account row shows, and when an account looks broken
An account looks broken on the Accounts page when its row says Error, Expired or Never synced, or a banner says it is disconnected. Each row on the Ad Recap Accounts screen shows the account name and ID, its status, when it last synced, and how many changes it had in the last 7 days.
- Connected means Ad Recap is reading its change history. The line under the change count says Monitoring change history.
- Error or Expired means the connection needs attention. The line under the change count says what went wrong, or Needs a reconnect to keep history current, and the row shows a Reconnect button. Reconnect opens the sign-in for that platform, and you come back to Accounts.
- Loading means Ad Recap is reading a new account's last 28 days for the first time.
- Never synced means Ad Recap has not read the account yet.
Ad Recap checks Connected accounts for new changes every 6 hours. That automatic check skips accounts in Error or Expired until you reconnect them.
Why a Google Ads account shows as disconnected
When the Google sign-in behind an account stops working, Ad Recap still shows the account. A banner at the top of the Ad Recap Accounts screen names the account and the Google login it uses, says it is disconnected from Google Ads, and says when it last synced, such as Last synced 5 hours ago. If Ad Recap does not have a name for it, the banner shows the Google login, or A Google Ads account.
Click Reconnect on the banner and sign in to Google again. When you finish, you come back to the Accounts screen.
In the account picker, the same account shows its Google login and when it last synced, with a Reconnect button, and you cannot tick it. Click Reconnect to sign in again.
Sync one account or see its changes
On the Ad Recap Accounts screen, open the Account options menu, the three dots at the end of a row.
- Sync now fetches that account's changes from the last 28 days, then says how many new changes it found, or Up to date.
- View changes opens the Dashboard filtered to that account.
Stop watching an account
To remove an account from Ad Recap, for example an old client you no longer manage, disconnect it.
- On the Ad Recap Accounts screen, open the Account options menu on the row.
- Click Disconnect. The row warns that disconnecting deletes this account's saved change history.
- Click Disconnect again to confirm, or Cancel to keep it.
Ad Recap says Stopped watching account, stops watching it and deletes the changes it saved for it. If you add the account again later, Ad Recap loads its last 28 days of changes again.
