YouTube ads in the editor
How many headlines does a YouTube ad take in PPC Ad Editor? Up to 5 headlines of 30 characters, 1 long headline of 90 characters, and 5 descriptions of 90 characters. A YouTube ad also uses a video, images, a logo and a business name. It does not use keywords or sitelinks.
How do I add my video?
- In the YouTube editor, click Add video. The Video section is marked Required, because a YouTube ad needs a video.
- Paste the link under YouTube URL. Links from youtube.com, youtu.be and Shorts all work. Any other link shows Paste a valid YouTube URL (watch, youtu.be, or Shorts).
- Click Change later to swap the video.
PPC Ad Editor plays your video in the preview. It does not upload it to YouTube or Google Ads.
What call to action options does a YouTube ad have?
Call to Action offers Learn more, Shop now, Sign up, Subscribe, Get quote, Apply now, Contact us, Download, Book now and See more.
What else can I set?
- Call to Action: Learn more, Shop now, Sign up, Subscribe, Get quote, Apply now, Contact us, Download, Book now or See more.
- The final URL, and Display Path 1 and Display Path 2 for the address shown on the ad.
- A Companion Banner image to show alongside the video. Until you add one, it says No companion banner uploaded.
- A logo with Add logo.
Duplicate lines are flagged as Duplicate headline or Duplicate description, and a counter turns red when a line is over its limit.
Can I export a YouTube ad?
No. YouTube is a preview format, so the editor shows no Export button and does not produce a YouTube ad file. Share the preview link for review, then set the campaign up in Google Ads yourself.
