LinkedIn ads in the editor
What are the LinkedIn character limits in PPC Ad Editor? The LinkedIn headline limit in the editor is 200 characters, with 70 recommended, on a Single Image/Video Ad. It has two LinkedIn formats, Single Image/Video Ad and Carousel Ad. Each field shows a recommended length and a maximum. Text past the recommended length still fits, but LinkedIn may cut it off in the feed.
Single Image/Video Ad
- Introductory Text: recommended 150 characters, max 600.
- Headline: recommended 70 characters, max 200.
- Description: recommended 100 characters, max 300.
- Media: one image, or a video. As of 21 October 2026, the video can be an MP4, MOV or WebM file up to 100 MB, or a YouTube, public Google Drive or public Dropbox link.
- Landing Page URL and a call to action.
Carousel Ad
- Introductory Text: recommended 150 characters, max 600, shared by every card.
- Carousel Cards: 2 to 10. Each card has an image, a Card Headline of up to 45 characters and a Card Description of up to 70.
- Card images can be JPG, PNG or GIF up to 10 MB, in 1:1, 4:5 or 1.91:1. 1080 by 1080 is the recommended size.
- Each card can have its own URL. If you leave it empty, the card uses the ad's shared URL.
- Carousel cards take images only, not video.
Which call to action buttons can I pick?
Apply, Download, View Quote, Learn More, Sign Up, Subscribe, Register, Join, Attend and Request Demo. A new ad starts on Learn More.
Can I export a LinkedIn ad?
No. LinkedIn formats are preview formats, so the editor shows no Export button and does not produce a LinkedIn ad file. Share the preview link with your client, then build the ad in LinkedIn Campaign Manager yourself.
