Policy basics the editor does not clear

ReferenceLast verified:

Will my ad be approved by Google if it looks right in PPC Ad Editor? Not necessarily. The editor checks character counts, how many headlines or images a format takes, and which fields a format has. It does not review your ad against Google, Meta or LinkedIn ad policies, and it does not approve or submit the ad.

What the editor checks

  • Character limits. Each field counts as you type, and most stop at the limit. See Character limits.
  • How many headlines, descriptions, images or videos a format takes.
  • Which fields a format has. A responsive search ad has no image field, for example.

What the editor does not check

  • Trademarks. It does not know whether you have the rights to use a brand name.
  • Capital letters and punctuation. When you type a headline yourself, the editor does not flag ALL CAPS, an exclamation mark or repeated punctuation such as !!.
  • Claims, landing pages, and rules for regulated industries such as health, finance or legal.

A preview can still be disapproved after someone uploads the ad in Google Ads, Meta or LinkedIn. Common refusals are a trademark you do not have rights to use, a string of capital letters, and punctuation repeated for emphasis. Those checks happen on the platform, not in this editor.

When Albert rewrites your copy

In workspaces where Albert can rewrite an ad's headlines or descriptions for you, he will not write a line that Google Ads tends to refuse. He leaves out an exclamation mark in a headline, repeated !! or ??, a line that is mostly capital letters, and a line that repeats an earlier one. He always shows you the change before it is made.

That is a check on Albert's own writing, not a policy review of your ad.

Where to check policy

Google's editorial policy is at https://support.google.com/adspolicy/answer/6021546. Read the platform's own policy for anything sensitive, and let the platform's review decide. The editor does not submit the ad, and it does not clear the ad.
