Get started with AdMinerX: make your first capture from a saved results page

How-to guidesLast verified:

Upload one Google results page you saved yourself, and AdMinerX turns it into your first capture.

  1. Sign in to PPC Ad Editor, then open AdMinerX. In the left sidebar, choose AdMinerX, then Capture. The page is at studio.ppcadeditor.com/adminerx.
  2. In another browser tab, search on Google for the term you want to study. Wait until the results show.
  3. Save the results page. Press Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on a Mac). If your browser asks for a format, choose HTML only. The saved file ends in .html or .htm.
  4. Back on the AdMinerX page, find the card Upload a saved results page and click Upload saved page (.html).
  5. Pick the file you saved. The button reads Capturing… while AdMinerX reads it.
  6. AdMinerX opens your new capture on the AdMinerX capture page, with the ads, related searches and shopping offers from that page.

AdMinerX says No searches yet

Until you make your first capture, Recent searches on the AdMinerX page reads No searches yet. Upload a saved results page to make one. After that, Recent searches lists your four newest captures.

Which file the AdMinerX upload accepts

The AdMinerX upload takes one .html or .htm file: a Google results page you saved yourself. Any other file type is refused with Upload the saved results page as an .html file. A Bing results page, or a page from another site, is refused too, because AdMinerX reads Google results pages only. A verification page or Google's consent screen is not a results page, so save the results themselves.

What the AdMinerX upload messages mean

  • That did not look like a Google results page. The file is not a Google results page. Save the results page itself with Ctrl+S, HTML only, and upload that file.
  • Google declined that search with a verification page. Nothing was captured. Google showed a check instead of results. Try again in a few minutes.
  • That page is Google's consent screen, not the results. You saved Google's consent screen. Accept or dismiss it on the Google tab, then save the results page with Ctrl+S, HTML only, and upload that file.
  • That file is too large to be a results page. You saved something bigger than one results page. Save the results page itself and try again.
  • This page does not say which search it is for. Type the search term in the Keyword field beside the upload button (it is marked only if the saved page does not name its search), then upload the same file again.
  • Capture failed, Capture failed while saving, or Capture saved but not closed. See Fix AdMinerX upload and capture problems.

Do I need to type the keyword in AdMinerX?

Usually not. A saved results page names its own search, so there is nothing to type first. The AdMinerX Keyword field, marked only if the saved page does not name its search, is a fallback. Use it only when AdMinerX says This page does not say which search it is for. Then type the search term and upload the same file again.

What AdMinerX does with your saved file

AdMinerX reads the file on your device. Only the captured ads, keywords and shopping offers are saved to your AdMinerX history. Uploading a saved page is free on every plan and does not use a daily search. On Lite, each capture keeps up to 5 ads. AdMinerX Pro has no per-job cap.
