# Export a ChatGPT ad to OpenAI Ads Manager

How do I get my ChatGPT ad into OpenAI Ads Manager? Export the ChatGPT ad preview as an OpenAI Ads Manager workbook (.xlsx), then upload that file in Ads Manager yourself. PPC Ad Editor does not publish or push the ad to OpenAI. Export is on every plan, Free tier included.

## How do I export a ChatGPT ad?

1. Open the ChatGPT ad preview in the editor.
2. Check each ad. In the ad's editor, the line under Square creative image should read Ready for OpenAI Ads Manager export.
3. Click Export at the top right.
4. Pick OpenAI Ads Manager workbook. The dialog says it downloads an .xlsx workbook with the official OpenAI Ads Manager sheets: campaigns, adgroups, and ads.
5. Click Export workbook. The file downloads, named after the preview with openai_ads and the date.
6. In OpenAI Ads Manager, use bulk upload and choose the downloaded workbook.

## What is in the workbook?

Three sheets, campaigns, adgroups and ads, in the layout of OpenAI's bulk-upload template.

- The ads sheet has one row per ad with its ad group, Title, Description (as copy), destination link, image link and status. Any tracking parameters on the ad are added to the link.
- The adgroups sheet has each ad group's name, its campaign and its context hints. The maximum bid is left empty.
- The campaigns sheet has one row per campaign.

Every ad exports as paused, unless you checked Export this ad as active in that ad's editor. See Edit a ChatGPT, X, or Reddit ad.

## Do I need to set the budget and objective before I upload?

Yes, check them. PPC Ad Editor has no fields for a ChatGPT campaign's budget, dates, objective or countries. A new ChatGPT ad preview's campaign row starts with a daily budget of 1.00, the Views objective, and no target countries. Change the campaign's budget, dates, objective and countries, and add each ad group's maximum bid, in the workbook or in Ads Manager before the ads go live.

## Why did the export fail with a list of problems?

The export checks every ad first. When an ad would be refused by Ads Manager, nothing downloads and the dialog lists each problem, one per line, starting with the ad group and ad name. The messages are:

- Title must be 3 to 24 characters.
- Copy must be 1 to 48 characters.
- Enter an http or https URL.
- Replace the placeholder URL with your website.
- Choose one square PNG or JPEG image, 640 to 1200 px wide. When an image is the wrong shape or size, the line says so first, for example The image is 1200 × 628, not square.

Fix each ad in its editor, then click Export workbook again.

## Can my client export the workbook from a share link?

Only if you allow export on that share link. Allow export on a share link is a Studio feature. See Share link permissions.

## Does PPC Ad Editor publish ChatGPT ads?

No. The workbook is a file. You upload it to OpenAI Ads Manager, and OpenAI reviews and runs the ads there.
