# Add and delete headlines and descriptions

To add a headline, click Add Headline under the last one. To delete one, click the bin icon on its row, titled Delete headline. It goes straight away, and a message such as Headline deleted offers Undo for a few seconds. Descriptions, and long headlines where a format has them, work the same way.

## How do I delete a headline or description?

1. Open the ad in the editor.
2. Click the bin icon at the end of the headline's or description's row.
3. The line is removed at once. A Headline deleted or Description deleted message shows Undo for about six seconds. Click Undo to bring it back.

## I deleted a headline by mistake, can I get it back?

Yes, if you click Undo straight away. After you delete a headline or description, a Headline deleted or Description deleted message shows Undo for about six seconds. Click Undo and the line comes back in the same place with its text. After the message is gone, click anywhere outside a text box and press Cmd+Z on a Mac or Ctrl+Z on Windows. That undoes your recent edits in the editor one at a time, newest first, and Cmd+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y redoes them. Undo only covers edits made since you opened the preview. After you reload or leave the preview, a deleted line cannot be brought back, so type it again. A deleted headline does not go to the trash.

## Why does it ask me before deleting this one?

Studio asks first only when deleting would lose more than the text.

- The headline is pinned to position 1, 2 or 3. The box titled Delete headline? says it is pinned, and to which position.
- The line has open comment threads. The box says how many unresolved comment threads it has, and that they will be lost.

Click Delete to remove it, or Cancel to keep it. Undo still works after you click Delete.

## Why can't I add another headline?

Every format has a maximum. A Google responsive search ad takes up to 15 headlines and 4 descriptions. At the maximum, the add button is greyed out and says, for example, Maximum 15 headlines reached. Delete a headline to add another.

If the button says Fill or delete the empty description, one of your descriptions is still blank. Type in it, or delete it, and then add another.
