No. AdScanner captures ads with **Server search** on its home page, and you do not need to install anything. The AdScanner section of the left menu has no extension link, and the AdScanner home page has no extension tab.

## Why the extension is not offered

The Google Ads Transparency Center changed how it shows text ads, and the AdScanner Chrome extension can come back with no ads. Server search on the AdScanner home page collects the advertiser's ads for you. When you send or download picked ads, AdScanner reads their words from each ad's image.

## If you already installed the extension

Jobs the extension sent earlier stay in AdScanner job history, with **Extension** in the **Engine** column. The popup still has **Connect your account**, **Capture ads on this page**, **Download .xlsx**, **Send to Studio**, **Clear saved ads** and **Disconnect**. **Connect your account** opens the **Connect AdScanner** page in PPC Ad Editor. **Disconnect** in the popup takes the extension's access away from your workspace.

## The old install page

The page at /products/adscanner still shows **AdScanner for Chrome** with its install status, such as **Not installed**, **Connected**, or **Installed** with a note that it is not connected. It has a **Re-check** button, and **Add to Chrome**, which opens the Chrome Web Store. When the extension is already installed, that button reads **Open in Chrome Web Store**. The page says AdScanner capture needs a PPC Ad Editor account, and that Lite captures 5 ads per job. You do not need this page to use AdScanner. Run your scans from the AdScanner home page instead.

## Does the extension work in Edge, Firefox or Safari?

The old install page checks for Chrome. In another browser it shows Chrome required, and in some browsers Install status unknown or Install status unavailable here. You do not need any browser extension to use AdScanner. Server search runs from the AdScanner home page, with nothing to install.

## When server search is paused

If your AdScanner subscription is past due, the AdScanner home page says **Server search is paused**. That notice says the workspace can still use the extension. Job history stays available either way.
